The borg would sometimes bounce between a couple of grids debating whether or not to flow to a non-existent monster.
At about clevels 20-25, when his maximum depth was about 9, he would stay too shallow in the dungeon. He would get to depth 5 but then want to return to town for his “short trips.” He will now stop the “short trips” at clevel 15.
I’m noticing that the borg seems awfully fond of trying to zap rods of recall while they’re still charging. Have you seen this behavior?
I have not. But he should know that it is not charged. Is there a stack of rods? If you see him doing that, save the game and send me the file.
I’ve just cracked open your borg after having not seen it for some years… Impressive 🙂
I am seeing some poor behavior that doesn’t survive a save, and the Borg appears to be spending an inordinate amount of time bouncing between configurations (carry 2 CSW, or 4, or 2, or 4… Wield shovel or sword, or shovel or sword…). Weight may have been a factor (strength 10, and the borg was over-loaded).
Also had him die just now just after hitting clevel 50. If I can find time, I’ll try to piece together what I can of the log, as a glance suggests something fishy at work (might just be a bad customization I made to borg.txt).
I should add most of the wierd behavior I’d seen was in town (trying to leave town going west… trying to use a spell and failing, stalled on trying to use a rod of recall).
Whew. Looks like he was power-diving and he got as far as level 74, where it looks like he was swarmed by bosses and died.
Added to the standard borg status screen is a section:
Important Deep Events, listing stock of items in the home.
The text Morgoth on Level. is grey, Last seen:1248 (also grey)
The Sea of Runes. (white).
The borg’s max-depth is level 74, so I’m unable to account for the Last Seen value. I’m unfamiliar with the section, so I can only assume that the value refers to the last time Morgoth was seen on the level.
I am setting borg_kills_uniques to TRUE.
